Grace's mother was a breast cancer survivor.  To cope with the stress of cancer and being a single parent she would paint and draw while listening to jazz and R&B.  Grace would watch her mother and try to copy the things she saw her paint.  Music was always playing in the house, hence the strong music theme in her work. 

Although Grace went to school for Environmental Policy and Management, she has taken art classes since grade school through college and continues to expand her knowledge of art.

"I use a broad range of materials, techniques and processes, sometimes combining traditional craft with contemporary art and designs in innovative ways. I enjoy

painting interesting faces, faces with lots of character lines or eyes that draw me in. I use bold acrylic colors in most of my paintings, which could be a combination of markers, watercolor, metallic paints and acrylic paint on canvas, canvas paper, granite, limestone or Styrofoam."

Picasso, Ernie Barnes, Gilbert Young and John Nelson are just a few of the artist that have influenced her work.
